Displaying Small Bus Permits in Minibuses

posted 1 Oct 2014, 07:05 by Peter Knight
To all DofE Centre Co-ordinators:

Whilst reviewing current policy changes and observations from our Quality Assurance visits during the expedition season, I would like to bring to your attention the following minibus regulation that was updated in April 2014. This is a legal requirement, not one imposed by us.

All minibuses used for Educational purposes (not exceeding 16 passenger seats) must display a valid Section 19 Permit (aka 'Small Bus Permit'). There are quite serious implications if you fail to display one, so please would you clarify this with the relevant person in your establishment who manages this to ensure that any minibus used for DofE expeditions (and all other visits) meets this requirement.

Further detailed information can be found at the following link (note the maintenance schedule and regular checks requirement too!)

Best wishes,
Richard Aldridge
