Preparation for the closure of the Oxfordshire County Council DofE Licence

posted 10 Dec 2015, 04:24 by Peter Knight
To all Oxfordshire DofE Centres:

I have now given formal notice to the SE Regional DofE Director that Oxfordshire County Council will be terminating its DofE licence on 31st March 2016.

Over the past year, the majority of our DofE Centres have, or are in the process of, becoming Directly Licensed Centres, which is great news for young people currently engaged in the Award and future participants.

Schools/Colleges/Universities and Open Groups planning to continue offering the Award should now ensure that their licence arrangements are in place by the end of March or before this date, to enable a smooth transition of young people’s accounts and to be able to continue delivering the Award. If you have not already done so, please contact to discuss the process.

If for any reason your DofE Centre is not planning to become a Directly Licensed Centre, please let me know so that arrangements can be made for the transfer of participant’s accounts, where necessary.

For any DofE Centres remaining with the County Council until the end of March 2016, can I ask you to think about how many participation places you may need between now and the end of March and order these before 29th February 2016.

To enable me to manage the financial close down, I do not intend to order any packs from Award Services Limited after this date but will continue to verify awards and provide ongoing support up to the 31st March 2016. In the meantime, thank you for all the support you give to the Award and young people in Oxfordshire and have a great Christmas and New Year break.

Best wishes
Richard Aldridge
